Supported Versions Microsoft Windows

Love or hate it, Microsoft Windows rule 95% percent of computer desktops in small business. Below is a reference list of the various releases of Windows which we support, along with a brief timeline to see where you stand in the current Microsoft world. Troubleshooting Windows issues is our core business, and includes Outlook express, Media player, Internet explorer, Backup and other built in features of these operating systems. Note that the operating systems further down are different in composition and function to their desktop brothers. Microsoft Windows should not to be confused with Microsoft Office, which includes the likes of Word and Excel. MS office is of course supported by us as well.

Desktop

Windows 7

Windows 7, the latest incarnation from Microsoft and a beauty. Without question the best release ever.

Windows Vista

Not without it's problems, Windows Vista was released to replace Windows XP. It has come good service pack releases, but not the big winner XP was

Windows XP

The most popular desktop system dominating most computers at the moment. Stable, well tried and tested.

Windows 2000

Released in 1999 and superceded by XP in 2003 this is still found on many business computers

Window NT

The first of the 'business' level operating systems in 1995, you will rarely find this in operation in small business because of its expense at the time of release.

Windows Me

Windows Millennium was built to superceded the famous Windows 98, and not particularly successful. This is a legacy operating system but is still found in some operations

Windows 98

The old faithful, and its still around. Again legacy, but we still support it.

Windows 95

A real old girl. If you have it, its time to upgrade.

Windows 3.1

Respect if you are still wrestling with this one.

Servers

Small Business Server 2008

A popular choice for small business as its name suggests.This is the latest version (2008). It includes for Internal email and Outlook functions such as sharing calendars and contacts. This OS is 64 bit only

Small Business Server 2003

SBS 2003 is still popular amongst businesses. It includes Exchange for Internal email and Outlook functions such as sharing calendars and contacts. It varies little from the latest SBS2008 series.

Server 2008 Standard

The latest standard server, this will support applications. Microsoft Exchange and SQL however are additional options. The main difference is unlimited connection of users. This OS is 64bit only

Server 2003 Standard

An alternative standard server, this will support Terminal Service applications. Microsoft Exchange and SQL however are additional options. The main difference is unlimited connection of users.

Windows 2000 Server

The first of the fully functional servers, it is still very common in the workplace today.

Windows NT server

Microsoft's first foray into Server software.
