Remote Online Assistance
Fixing your computer with remote assistance
My iT Support offers a new online repair service where we can connect into a work computer and repair the problem remote from the your place of work. This is normally whilst communicating directly with staff who have the issue. This can negate the need for onsite technician, thus reducing the cost of the service. The same applies if you away from the office. We can connect to your for example laptop, from any place in the world with an Internet connection.
How it Works
Step One
We use remote access technology where you download a small easily installable program to your computer. This application generates an access code and password which you then give to our technicians over the telephone. Our technicians can then connect to your computer in real time and initiate what is known as a Remote Desktop Session, allowing them to see and access the desktop at the same time you do.
Step Two
You have the option to sit back, take a cuppa and watch as we work away. We are in touch with you via the telephone during this time. The technician looks at your system and makes a preliminary assessment deciding whether the problem(s) can be fixed online and the estimated time to fix the issue.
Step Three
When the session ends and we disconnect, the connection is closed and the unique password is automatically voided. We use a product known as Team Viewer, a product used by IT support staff inside major organisations for years and is now available to small business and the consumer. Check it out for yourself here. It is completely safe and secure as it is controlled by you.
Limitations
Of course the one thing you require for this to work is an Internet connection. If this is not available we cannot help you in this way, and you will need to bite the bullet and give us a call. Similarly it can only resolve problems that are software driven. If your computer suffers a hardware problem, then this too can only be carried out onsite by a technician. What ever the case may be, you will be advised by our technician of the options before we begin.
